Is Temu legit, and is Temu safe in the UAE?

Is Temu legit or a scam?

Temu is a real company, not a fake shop. It belongs to PDD Holdings, which is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker PDD and names Dublin, Ireland, as its main office in its 2024 annual filing. Temu's UAE site, temu.com/ae, opened in September 2023, according to Gulf Business.

So is Temu legit, real or fake, authentic or a scam? The shop is real. Which country is Temu originally from? China: PDD Holdings also runs Pinduoduo, a shopping platform that started in China in 2015. The question that matters is whether an order arrives as shown, and whether Temu refunds it when it does not.

So:

1. Buy only on temu.com/ae or in the official Temu app.
2. Read the product's own reviews and photos before you pay.
3. Keep your order page until the parcel is checked.

A real shop can still sell a bad product: the shop and the item are two different questions.

Temu reviews in the UAE: what do the ratings say?

Ratings for Temu are split. On 28 October 2026, the UAE App Store showed 4.3 out of 5 from about 37,000 ratings, and Google Play showed 4.1 from 13.1 million reviews. Trustpilot gave temu.com a TrustScore of 1.8 out of 5 from 56,885 reviews, with 58% one-star and 24% five-star.

Why such a gap? App stores rate the app itself, Trustpilot rates the company's service, and different people answer each. Temu UAE reviews on the app stores and on Trustpilot therefore tell two different stories. For Temu online shopping in the UAE, reviews under each product speak about that exact item: read them, and look at buyer photos.

Is Temu legit according to its reviews? Partly. Trustpilot also shows that Temu claimed its profile in October 2022 and replied to 99% of negative reviews, and the page says it « typically replies within 24 hours ». A reply is not a refund, so read those replies as Temu's side of the story.

Temu app reviews: is the Temu app safe in the UAE?

The Temu app is rated 4.3 out of 5 on the UAE App Store, where its provider is listed as Whaleco Inc., and 4.1 on Google Play. Google Play's data safety section says the app may collect location and personal info and that data is encrypted in transit. Download it only from those two official stores.

Google Play also says users can ask for their data to be deleted, and the App Store lists the app under Shopping, rated 13+. Temu app reviews from Dubai sit inside the same UAE score, because the UAE App Store gives one rating for the whole country.

Is the Temu app safe to use, then? As safe as where you install it from. Never install it from a link in a message, and never share your Temu password with anyone, including people offering codes or gifts. Our own code test of 31 October 2026 ran in the app as well as on the website: in a UAE basket, every one of our codes was accepted on a new account and on an older one, in both places, and the total showed UAE dirhams.

Temu complaints in the UAE: what can you do if an order goes wrong?

Start with a return or refund request to Temu on the order itself, because that is what its purchase protection covers. Temu's UAE page says a courier then collects the parcel, and the refund goes to your Temu credit or to your original payment method, as you choose.

If you feel Temu scammed you, keep screenshots of the product page, the order and every message, and point to the purchase protection rules above when you ask for your money back. On Trustpilot, Temu reviews and complaints sit on the same page, with Temu's replies under them.

The header of Temu's UAE help centre also lists « Delivery guarantee: refund for any issues » and « Price adjustment within 30 days ». Those are Temu's promises as written; no refund or complaint of our own is in our test log yet.

Temu UAE reviews sit in the UAE App Store score; complaints go to Temu on the order itself.

Temu quality: are the products good or fake?

The quality of products on Temu depends on the seller and the item, not on the shop, and our test log has no UAE item to judge it by yet. Before buying, read the product's own reviews and look at buyer photos. Sizes, materials and measurements on the product page are the facts to check first.

Is Temu original or fake? If a listing shows a famous brand at a very low price, be careful: on 28 May 2026 the European Commission fined Temu 200 million euros for not properly assessing the risk of illegal products on its marketplace in Europe, Khaleej Times reported. Temu said it disagrees and finds the fine disproportionate.

Temu quality reviews on each product page are the closest thing to a test you can read before paying. Our test log describes products in words, never with a screenshot.

If a message on Telegram, WhatsApp or SMS promises free Temu items and asks for your password, a card number or a payment outside the Temu app, do not send anything. A real Temu offer appears inside the Temu app or on temu.com itself. Google's suggestions for « temu scam » include free gifts, free items and Telegram.

Is Temu legit with free gifts, then? A gift is free only if it shows at zero dirhams in your basket total, and a coupon is real only if its discount shows there too. Whether Temu is really giving free gifts to your account is something only that basket can show.
